Greetings from the Vice Principal
Hyeon-soo Han
Vice Principal
As the Vice-Principal, it has been and continues to be my privilege to be associated with such a distinguished group of young women as those here at Ewha. Entrance to Ewha Girls¡¯ Foreign Language High School is extremely competitive, with less than 20% of each year¡¯s applicants gaining admission.
More than three-quarters of the newly admitted freshmen graduated in the top 2% of their middle school classes, and I am impressed by how quickly they have adjusted to an environment in which the academic bar has been raised to a level of competition to which all new students must quickly adapt. Despite the intense competition among our students from around the city, a tradition of sisterhood pervades the campus as incoming freshmen students are assigned to junior and senior students to create a lineage which allows increased interaction between the grades. Through this program, students mentor and learn from one another in addition to developing deep bonds of friendship.
From among this extraordinary student body, I feel especially proud of the elite group of enthusiastic EGC students who dedicate their afternoons to disciplines that will prepare them for attending universities abroad. Their commitment to maintaining a rigorous curriculum during their three year stay with us is a perfect example of our EGC students¡¯ tremendous determination to achieve excellence in and beyond their regular school studies.
