EGC program is basically geared for the highly motivated and ambitious student who wants to attend a university abroad. The courses take a holistic approach to the learning process, effectively preparing students for both standardized tests and, more importantly, the expectations and study skills required from universities abroad. Over the three years' cumulative program, students will be prepared not just for a single SAT exam, but for true intellectual growth required to construct logical arguments, debate sophisticated issues, write a research paper, properly cite sources, and overall learn proper study skills. So the entire program is inherently interdisciplinary and varied and a variety of stimuli (e.g. multimedia, novels, articles) are used to familiarize students with how universities present and utilize these materials.
Counselor's Letter
EGC was founded as a student-centered learning environment, one designed to prepare students not only to survive the rigors of a global environment but to thrive in it as well. While EGC students are bright, diligent, and score well on standardized tests, these characteristicsalone will not prepare them for life outside of the friendly confines of campus. Hence, the academic curriculum at EGC is geared towards a broad liberal arts education that will arm students with the skills necessary to succeed wherever life's path takes them.
The goal of EGC is not to create assembly line students with sparkling transcripts and impeccable credentials; instead our goal is to identify the uniqueness in every individual and to foster and develop those special attributes so students can form their own dreams and pave their own paths. Consequently, the college counseling program at EGC is firmly grounded in the belief that each and every student that leaves the gates of EGC will make their mark on the world big or small.
As the EGC guidance counselor, it is my job to know the students well and to therefore advocate strongly on their behalf. Consequently, I am committed to the idea that this process demands an active, supportive, and open-minded collaboration with students and parents. My sincerest hope is that each and every student finds their "perfect" match college and remembers that what matters most what they do when they get there.
Sincerely,
EGC College Counselor
